Nativescaping / Naturescaping is a design style which uses plants that are native to your geographical location and by virtue invites nature (birds, butterflies, etc…) in to your landscape.


Nativescaping is also considered drought tolerant planting, since these plants are native to the geographical area where they are being planted. These plants are adapted to the regions weather patterns and therefore can survive in the natural conditions with little to no supplemental watering.


Some examples for the Colorado area are, Aquilegia caerulea: Rocky Mountain Columbine, Chrysothamnus nauseosus: RabbitBrush, and Picea pungens: Colorado Spruce.
